Someone please put me out of my misery! After upgrading my laptop from Me to XP Pro, the usb failed to be seen by the device manager. After previous help from this site, I was informed that service pk 1 & 2 needed to be added but as the usb was my only way in at the time that was a problem. Now with a pcmcia lan card I have implemented sp 1&2 but still it does not see the usb port or any usb devices. The only reference that the pc lets me know that it exists is in system info where it tells me that it is an Intel usb 82371 controler. And the only driver software that i can find for it (driver guide .com), only runs on 95,98, me platforms. Anyone any ideas? -- treelow |

You need to install your motherboard chipset utility drivers. They will be
available at the website of your motherboard manufacturer. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging "treelow" <treelow.1y7hb7@pcbanter.net> wrote in message news:treelow.1y7hb7@pcbanter.net... > > Someone please put me out of my misery! > After upgrading my laptop from Me to XP Pro, the usb failed to be seen > by the device manager. > After previous help from this site, I was informed that service pk 1 & > 2 needed to be added but as the usb was my only way in at the time that > was a problem. If you can identify your chipset, go to www.intel.com and navigate
through support/downloads, etc. Look for CHIPSET utilities (you can even find a utility here to help you identify your chipset if necessary). Locate the appropriate version of INFINST for your chipset. Pay attention to the INSTALL process. To summarize: if you install INFINST immediately after you've installed your OS, you simply run SETUP. Otherwise, download the ZIP vesion of INFINST and unzip to some folder. Then you go through all the PCI related items (this is not entirely accurate, but it will do) in Device Manager and go through the Update Driver process for each item, pointing to the folder where you unzipped the downloaded INFINST. Reboot. |

Try going to the website of the computer manufacturer and find updated drivers.
Your having a conflict when you updated windows and the only way to correct the problem is going to the manufacturers site and either updating the drivers there or by flashing the bios if your bios has an update -- The Gizmo "treelow" wrote: > > Someone please put me out of my misery! > After upgrading my laptop from Me to XP Pro, the usb failed to be seen > by the device manager. > After previous help from this site, I was informed that service pk 1 & > 2 needed to be added but as the usb was my only way in at the time that > was a problem.
