Which third party DVD burning software are you using?

Have you tried more than one brand of media?

XP cannot burn to a DVD. You need third party software.

In the case of music files downloaded from iTunes they are copy protected, I
don't think you would be able to do what you want easily. If you have third
party software for DVD burning you can try burning a disk full of MP3 files,
but it may not work in your standalone.

There are ways and means around copy protection, but you'd have to google
for them.

Try a different brand of media..... a good one like Fuji, Memorex etc....
not the cheapest you can find.

You may also need an optical drive cleaning kit if the lenses are dirty.

As I had purchased the movies via iTunes, I started with their software.
This, however, only allows you to burn data DVD's.

I have tried Windows Media Player, Nero, Record Now but each time the error
message comes up "file not recognised".

I am annoyed with iTunes because they sell the downloads but then you cannot
burn them for use on a home DVD player (Cd's are no problem). iTunes confirm
that their software does not allow you to burn for home DVD.

Burn AUDIO CDs with a third party software (Nero, Roxio etc).

Then rip them back to the PC's hard drive in MP3 format.

Then burn your DVDs from the MP3s you just ripped back on the hard drive.
