Can someone help me out with Windows Movie Maker, it keeps crashing every 2
minutes, Im importing Windows Media Audio/Video files and just trying to add a title but I dont even get that far as it crashes, Ive tried the version that comes with Service Pack 2 then got a older version from Download.com and that still crashes, Ive just re-installed service pack 2 which has brought back the latest version and thats still shutting down when I import a video clip, Id appreciate any help to identify whats causing the constant crashes or any views on recommended video editors that work as this is just a waste of time and doesnt even give details on why it keeps crashing except for its encountered a error and needs to close or its referenced a memory that cannot be read. Here's some of the errors that appear in the event viewer, I have Win XP Home Edition with SP2 and all the latest updates, AMD Athlon 1800+ , 512MB Ram: 04/12/2005 17:55:00 Application Error Error None 1000 N/A ANDY Faulting application moviemk.exe, version 2.0.3312.0, faulting module cmaudio.ax, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x000015df. 04/12/2005 16:53:10 Application Error Error None 1000 N/A ANDY Faulting application moviemk.exe, version 2.0.3312.0, faulting module , version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000. 04/12/2005 16:51:44 Application Error Error None 1000 N/A ANDY Faulting application moviemk.exe, version 2.0.3312.0, faulting module cmaudio.ax, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00001563. 04/12/2005 16:25:16 Application Error Error None 1000 N/A ANDY Faulting application moviemk.exe, version 2.1.4026.0, faulting module qasf.dll, version 10.0.0.3802, fault address 0x0000c0b9. 04/12/2005 16:23:24 Application Error Error None 1000 N/A ANDY Faulting application moviemk.exe, version 2.1.4026.0, faulting module wmasf.dll, version 10.0.0.3802, fault address 0x00002041. 04/12/2005 16:22:09 Application Error Error None 1000 N/A ANDY Faulting application moviemk.exe, version 2.1.4026.0, faulting module qasf.dll, version 10.0.0.3802, fault address 0x000086db. 04/12/2005 15:46:46 Application Error Error None 1000 N/A ANDY Faulting application moviemk.exe, version 2.1.4026.0, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0xf5faff00. 04/12/2005 15:44:50 Application Error Error None 1000 N/A ANDY Faulting application moviemk.exe, version 2.1.4026.0, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x0000979d. 04/12/2005 15:38:42 Application Error Error None 1000 N/A ANDY Faulting application moviemk.exe, version 2.1.4026.0, faulting module qedit.dll, version 6.5.2600.2180, fault address 0x0002c527. 04/12/2005 15:31:42 Application Error Error None 1000 N/A ANDY Faulting application moviemk.exe, version 2.1.4026.0, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000. 04/12/2005 15:23:53 Application Error Error None 1000 N/A ANDY Faulting application moviemk.exe, version 2.1.4026.0, faulting module qasf.dll, version 10.0.0.3802, fault address 0x00019fa5. 04/12/2005 15:06:28 Application Error Error None 1000 N/A ANDY Faulting application moviemk.exe, version 2.1.4026.0, faulting module wmvcore.dll, version 10.0.0.3802, fault address 0x0000b884. 04/12/2005 13:03:17 Application Error Error None 1000 N/A ANDY Faulting application moviemk.exe, version 2.1.4026.0, faulting module , version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000. 04/12/2005 13:01:32 Application Error Error None 1000 N/A ANDY Faulting application moviemk.exe, version 2.1.4026.0, faulting module qedit.dll, version 6.5.2600.2180, fault address 0x0002c527. 04/12/2005 12:57:51 Application Error Error None 1000 N/A ANDY Faulting application moviemk.exe, version 2.1.4026.0, faulting module cmaudio.ax, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00001612. 04/12/2005 12:41:31 Application Error Error None 1000 N/A ANDY Faulting application moviemk.exe, version 2.1.4026.0, faulting module cmaudio.ax, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00001563. |

It could be a codec problem, so see this and turn off all codecs/filters in
your list and add them back one by one to see which is casing the grief. http://www.myvideoproblems.com/Tutor...ibilityTab.htm -- Graham Hughes MVP Digital Media www.myvideoproblems.co.uk www.dvds2treasure.com www.simplydv.com "AndyManchesta" <andyorange334@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:2B0511E8-35F9-4D8B-9E02-BC7C21058FDA@microsoft.com... > Can someone help me out with Windows Movie Maker, it keeps crashing every > 2 > minutes, Im importing Windows Media Audio/Video files and just trying to > add > a title but I dont even get that far as it crashes, Ive tried the version > that comes with Service Pack 2 then got a older version from Download.com > and > that still crashes, Ive just re-installed service pack 2 which has brought > back the latest version and thats still shutting down when I import a > video > clip, > > Id appreciate any help to identify whats causing the constant crashes or > any > views on recommended video editors that work as this is just a waste of > time > and doesnt even give details on why it keeps crashing except for its > encountered a error and needs to close or its referenced a memory that > cannot > be read. Hi Graham Thankyou very much for your help, All I had Listed on that tab was C-Media Audio Filter, I assume this came with a windows download. I use Creative SoundBlaster, I just do not have enabled to start with Windows as it interferes with Norton so I think I may of downloaded C-Media from Windows Updates a few weeks ago (Maybe it couldnt detect Creative), Ive unchecked the box for C-Media and I've just been able to edit my first video file without it crashing, Im hoping it has fixed the problem because before I could import the video but If I tried to add effects, title or even view it then Windows MM would crash which got abit frustrating after a few hours, It actually looks quite good now I can use it and have been looking at the transitions features which are very impressive. I will reply If I have any more problems but its made a difference as I just edited a video and added a title which I wasnt able to do before I really appreciate the help and look forward totesting the features in more detail now I can use it. Thanks Again Kind Regards Andy |
