Microsoft MPEG-4 decoder broken
Hi,
All of a sudden I experienced troubles with playing/converting some video clips. "Sherlock - the Codec Detective" shows that my Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Decompressor is broken ("The driver file for this codec was not found"). I tried to reinstall Windows Media Player 10, Microsoft codecs packs etc. but it did not help. Can anybody give me a hint what to do? Kind regards MJ Wiechowski

Sorry, I don't know how to fix the MS MPEG4 decoder, but as a bypass,
you can download and install FFDSHOW and configure it to process the appropriate FOURCC codes (e.g. MP4S) and it will do the job very well.

In the meantime I solved the problem by going back to a restore point and reinstalling several media programs...
