The CD and DVD lasers are two different parts. Sounds like the DVD laser
has died. I have the same problem in the old notebook I'm using right now and am trying to decide whether it's worth replacing it! If it were a desktop I'd be a the PC store right now, since it's a notebook, it's not quite as easy. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Windows Technologies, Printing & Imaging http://www.coribright.com/windows "peter" <peter@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:A5BC2465-1317-48B6-98A5-0BF410FD633E@microsoft.com... > yes it reads cds. but does not read any dvd(both commercial and burned) > > "Cari (MS-MVP)" wrote: > >> Are these burned DVDs or commercial DVDs? >> >> Does it read CDs? >> >> Does it read any DVDs? >> -- >> Cari (MS-MVP) >> Windows Technologies, Printing & Imaging >> http://www.coribright.com/windows >> >> >> "peter" <peter@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message >> news 4D364A4-625E-43DA-86C2-D72D8C3393E2@microsoft.com...>> > hi all. >> > DVDs are not being read in my windows xp, pentium 4 pc with 128 mb ram >> > using >> > a samsung combo drive.i have power dvd software,. but it doesn't solve >> > this >> > problem >> > how can i correct this? pls help....... >> >> >> |
