Are these burned DVDs or commercial DVDs?

The CD and DVD lasers are two different parts. Sounds like the DVD laser
has died. I have the same problem in the old notebook I'm using right now
and am trying to decide whether it's worth replacing it! If it were a
desktop I'd be a the PC store right now, since it's a notebook, it's not
quite as easy.
