I have MS XP PRO SP2 (on Intel D915PBL motherboard w onboard Firewire
connection) and a JVC GR-D290U Mini DV Camcorder. The system recognizes the camcorder properly and it can even control the camcorder play/ff/rev/stop etc control. However when I download the digital video (I tried several different types of SW, Pinnacle, MS VideoMaker, freeware etc.) the video starts capturing for about 30 sec - 50 secs and then stops capturing. The camcorderc ontinues its playback, but no capture. I have Symantec antivirus SW on the system, but is is currently disabled. Sometimes, I can get 1 - 2 mins of capture but generally it seems to stop capturing after some time. I'm thinking this has to do with some buffer size/timing issue on firewire. Any one know of any registry settings (that can be tweaked) for adjusting timing/data capure size? Any other ideas of how to solve this? Appreciate any help. Thanks, Video-neophyte (but computer savvy ) |
