loaded the DVD drive with a 'DVD-R' and selected 'save to DVD'
I get the following error message: "Drive xxxxx (d does not contain the appropriate type of recordable DVDdisc. To continue, insert a supported recordable DVD dis into the drive and then click ok." I'm using DVD-R discs. What am I doing wrong? What is wrong? How can save it? 2nd question: When successful, will this saved DVD play in a standard DVD-player (non-computer) ... just plain ole' DVD to TV set-up? (They don't say it will specifically and I'm I know there is a difference btwn. DVD on comptuter and a real-live DVD.) ![]() thanks! /marc |

Windows XP cannot burn to a DVD. Which DVD burning application are you
using? A Video DVD will play in a standalone player. A data DVD usually will not. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging http://www.coribright.com/windows "marc" <marc@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:B47F7FE5-C890-4A35-9CC9-0E62ED5C5B0B@microsoft.com... > loaded the DVD drive with a 'DVD-R' and selected 'save to DVD' > > I get the following error message: > "Drive xxxxx (d does not contain the appropriate type of recordable DVD> disc. Hi Cari,
First, thanks for the rapid response. Second, I do not have a DVD burning application because I thought msft movie maker did that. I did purchase pinnacle media suite v.9 but haven't opened because I thought that the movie maker would take care of everything. Based on your response, it sounds like I need something like this application if I want to write to a DVD dis and play it on a DVD player. Are you familiar with pinnacle sudio media suite? Would you recommend I 'pop the seal' and begin the learning? ![]() "Cari (MS-MVP)" wrote: > Windows XP cannot burn to a DVD. Correct, neither Windows XP nor Windows Movie Maker can write to a DVD.
I'm not familiar with Pinnacle applications, I'm sure someone else here is, I use Roxio, Nero, WinDVD Creator and PowerDirector/PowerProducer. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging http://www.coribright.com/windows "marc" <marc@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:93F8A255-237E-49E2-A1CB-46FB673FB87D@microsoft.com... > Hi Cari, > First, thanks for the rapid response. > Second, I do not have a DVD burning application because I thought msft > movie > maker did that.
