Default Problems Backing up large files

I am trying to copy some large Video files to an external disc. There are 3
files, the smallest being 3 Gig, the largest 11 Gig. I am trying to back up
to a 40 Gig disc, which has 27 gig spare. I am backing up from an 80 Gig
disc, which has 23 Gig spare.

I am getting the error mesage, not enough Disc space availale to perform
this action. I am dragging/dropping the file and have tried the copy command.

I have an XP system with 1 Gig of RAM.

Any ideas how to do this?

Thanks,

Andy

Is the external drive formatted as FAT32 or NTFS. You do remember that FAT32
has a 4gb file size limitation?

Converting from fat32 to NTFS is a non-destructive process, however, going
from NTFS to fat32 deletes all the data.

Thanks, I'll re-format the external drive and that should sort it,
