Every suggestion received tells me what I have done so far. This is the
problem. I want to save my movie. I enter the name and location. Under other settings the drop off window does not have the DV-AVI option. I have other options which I do not know what they mean. Question is where is my DV-AVI? and what are the meanings of the following choices under other: Vido for local Player (2.1 and 1.5mbps. VideoLAN (1.0 and 768 ) Video broad band Video local playback 2.1 and 1.5? |

You're half way there:
After clicking on Save to My Computer you should get the screen which asks for File Name and Location Then you click on Next... Put the check mark in Other Settings.... and use the drop down menu.... It should start with: Video for Pocket PC (three different options) and continue on from there... After the High Quality Video, you get the Video for Local Playback options, then Video for LAN, Video for Broadband and further down still, DV-AVI. Just a side note, your hard drive is formatted in NTFS, yes, and not FAT32? If you are still in FAT32 you cannot save a file larger than 4gb and therefore, since DV-AVI is going to be in the region of 12gb per hour, you may not have the option. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...october01.mspx -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging http://www.coribright.com/windows "Ram" <Ram@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:EED90591-D1B3-4638-A551-48BADEED5CD5@microsoft.com... > Every suggestion received tells me what I have done so far. I have a Dell purchased 2 years ago. I have been able to burn a CD in the
past. How would I find out if the hard drive id formatted in NTFS or FAT32? Can one change this? I just do not have the DV-AVI option. There has to be a way to get around this. Lets start from the beginning.
How did you get the movie onto the computer? Using what connections and leads? What format did you save it in? To find if you have ntfs, then go My Computer Right click the hard drive choose properties read what they are in the window that opens. Not sure what the relavance for saying you could burn cd's before is. You can change it, but we'll leave that for later if needed. It shouldn't really stop you from saving to dv-avi, just limit what you can do. -- Graham Hughes MVP Digital Media www.myvideoproblems.co.uk www.dvds2treasure.com www.simplydv.com "Ram" <Ram@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:F61C8D5A-50B1-4FC6-AD50-F3B914FAF424@microsoft.com... >I have a Dell purchased 2 years ago. After the movie was totally finished in windows movie make I save it as in
save your movie option. It was saved to the computer. Once I was ready to burn it I went to save movie for recordable CD. Once a disc was placed it asked for a name. Then had other options. This is where I got stuck.Under other options I have Video for local player ,Video LAN,Video broad band and video playback. I thought that one of these were the choices. But now most of the comentators tell me that I should have a DV-AVI option as well. I do not. I have a NTFS formated hard drive. I am under the understanding that if I had the DV-AIV choice that would be it. I do not know. I connected my JVC 700x digital camera Via the DV port on the camera to the computer. I was asked to choose the capture video devise. Tis gives me 2 choices. AVC complaint DV Device and Dell movie studio. Next was to name th file. The get other choices and guess what. Under other I found the dV-AVI choice. Thank you for forcing me to retrace the steps. THe DV-AVI choice is at the beginning BEFORE the movie is saved. Not AFTER the movie has been completed. Another way to burn the project if some is having headaches with microsoft movie maker is to recorder back to a DV tape and directly burn it through nero, dell movie or any other program. It worked for me while trying to solve this issue. RAm, the choice before is for capture not saving. You should still be able
to select the file type at the saving part. I have never tried to burn a cd from MM, as it makes a himat cd, and I didn't thing you got the choice of what file type, so I assume you won't get dv-avi when trying to burn to cd, as unless the movie is only a couple of minutes long it wouldn't fit anyway. If you want to burn dv-avi to cd, then save your movie to the pc as a dv-avi and burn to disc with the likes of nero etc. as a data cd. -- Graham Hughes MVP Digital Media www.myvideoproblems.co.uk www.dvds2treasure.com www.simplydv.com "Ram" <Ram@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:25F6FF52-468A-4449-B20D-452132A2DB90@microsoft.com... > After the movie was totally finished in windows movie make I save it as in > save your movie option.
