I have a JVC GR-DVL520U Camera that will not be detected by my laptop running
XP SP2. I have connected in the past when I was running SP1, but I have not been able to connect since I upgraded to SP2. I have tried the suggestions on Graham Hughes' web page with no success, including the KB for the SidSpeed. Most of the other people with firewire issues can connect to the camera, but I cannot even connect. It does not show up in My Computer or in the Device Manager. Any suggestion would be welcome. |

When I plug the camera into the firewire port, I do not hear the ding.
Device manager shows that the 1394 device is working properly. The computer is a laptop with a built-in 4-pin firewire port. I had the camera connected one time by uninstalling the 1394 controller, restarting the computer, and having the camera connected and playing the video. After installing the controller, the camera showed as a connected device. Within a few seconds, the camera was no longer available. I have not been able to get the camera to connect, even by repeating the uninstall. Have you done the other tests? What are the results?
Just because teh IEEE 1394 port is listed as working in device manager does not mean it is fully functioning, so this is not a real test of it. -- Graham Hughes MVP Digital Media www.myvideoproblems.co.uk www.dvds2treasure.com www.simplydv.com "Comp Plus" <CompPlus@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:14F8F48B-6665-45F9-A7CA-9CE9CF30831C@microsoft.com... > When I plug the camera into the firewire port, I do not hear the ding. > Device manager shows that the 1394 device is working properly.
