Default remote connection

At work, I was on the phone with our company's IT group. I IPCONFIG'd and
gave him my ip address. Next thing I know, he was working my desktop
remotely. How did he do that??? FYI OS is Win 2K.
If they are using 3rd party softare, how can I find out what they are using???
I have administrator access, can I do the same thing they did???

Unless your running W2K Server & Terminal Server on that desktop its possible they used
some flavor of Virtual Network Computing (VNC). Why not simply ask the IT folks what they
use?

Probably not. Remote Control app should have its own password to protect
access and settings.

Settings -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs
Check list of programs. Remote control application should be there.

This is a work-configured home PC?
Likely - being Windows 2000 - they have something like VNC or some other
remote Desktop application installed so they can control your computer from
anywhere. They also likely have theirs password protected.

Could you do that? Yeah - if you knew what they used and the password.
You could also do that by installing your own such software - like
UltraVNC - and setting it up for yourself.
