Pardon the location of this post, I could not find a Mobile Edition section
and though this is ultimately an Exchange connection, the problem is likely VPN-centered. Also, please pardon the length of this message, it is written after a cumulative 8 hours on the phone with cases open at all 3 vendors involved though this is clearly a Microsoft issue. Problem Summary: Using a Samsung I730 (version S:i730.2.6V.YE05) with Microsoft Windows MobileTM 2003 Second Edition (version 4.21.1088), I am attempting to connect to a MS Exchange 2003 (Svc Pack 1) server behind a firewall (Cisco Pix v6.3(3)) using ActiveSync. This is supported based on Microsoft documentation (KBB 818199 and others)… This configuration works with Laptops using several networking modes (CDMA cards, 802.11x, etc.) outside the private net all connecting to the same firewall with Microsoft VPN/PPTP client. It also works with several PalmOS Treo650´s and even a Linux-based (hacked) HP iPaq. All of these successful client connections have a common IP config for the tunnel, a 10.0.9.x host address - 32bit Mask - No Gateway or same gateway as host addr(normal behavior for a tunnel) - a 10.0.0.x DNS server assignment. The above mentioned config shows the outside interface of the firewall as the gateway for the client, this is not standard. I have successfully sync´ed with this Exchange server several times using WiFi inside the private network basically ruling out Exchange/Activesync related issues. Thank You for your patience reading this extensive email, I await your wisdom. -- Michael Lane IT Manager/Network Engineer |
