Default Please help. Client will not connect to remote computer

I have been trying to connect from home to my office computer and have been
having difficulty. The IT people at my office tell me everything is set up
on my office computer to conect via Remote Desktop. (I don't have admin
rights to my desktop at the office.)

I connect to the office network via a VPN and that seems to be working
properly. (I can access the intranet, etc.). Also, I used PortQryUI to verify
that the office computer is listening on port 3389 and I can telnet to the
office computer (using the computer name). I am unable to get a response
when I try to ping the office computer, however.

When I try to connect to my machine via Remote Desktop, I get the following
error message:

The client could not establish a connection to the remote computer.

The most likely causes for this error are:
1) Remote connections might not be enabled at the remote computer.
2) The maximum number of connections was exceeded at the remote computer.
3) A network error occurred while establishing the connection.

Both office and work computers are running WinXP Pro with SP2. I am
connecting to the internet via a cable modem and router. I am running both
the Windows firewall and McAfee Personal Firewall Plus.

The office support desk people tell me that it should just work and have
been less than helpful. Does anyone have any ideas to help me solve this
issue? Thanks very much for your help.

Have your IT people check this setting on the local computer in question

Console Root\Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Administrative
Templates\Windows Components\Terminal Services\

Ensure that the following are set

Limit number of connections: Not configured
Allow users to connect remotely using Terminal Services: Not Configured

Additionally, disable your McAfee Personal Firewall Plus.
