Default Remote assistance via Messenger

In a LAN using internet through a router, I connect to a friend over the
same lan, to give him support, via Messenger remote assistance service and
works great!!!, both connected to the internet., but when i'm trying to
connect from another pc outside the lan, i.e., my laptop pc from my home and
I try to give him assistance via messenger, the connection fails. It says:
"Remote Assistance connection could not be established because the remote
host name could not be resolved. Please try again."

Please anybody help me.

Thanks a lot

Does the host (the person you are trying to help) have a public IP? I
suspect that it is on a private subnet i.e. 192.168... or something like
that. You will not be able to connect to a pc on a private network without a
NAT router that can pass RDP from the routers public IP to the internal
private IP.
