Hello.
After having read similar querries on this forum and others, along with other research I've done over the past couple of months, I just can not seem to solve this problem on my own: When using MSN Messenger v7.5.0311 (I have Windows Messenger disabled), I am unable to connect with others using the "Remote Assistance" (or "RDC" for that matter) feature on my XP Pro-SP2 machine. I have Verizon DSL, and am running behind a Linksys WRT54G wireless router. All possible settings appear to be set to enable the connection in "My Computer>Properties>Remote", Services, etc. Netstat -a shows TCP/3389/Listening. Port-forwarding 3389 has no effect. However, I do get the following message, every now and then, when I start up Messenger (Imageshack link): "http://img516.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenshot1118200593011pm6jc.png" Could this be the cause of my problem? It's the only Active-X issue I seem to be having. I'm currently running Active-X 9.0c under the .Net1.1 framework w/SP1. Internet Options are set to default. My computer is thoroughly scanned on a regular basis for any virus/malware infections - showing none. All other features - games, video, audio, file sharing, handwriting, voice clip, app sharing, winks, etc. - work fine. I just can't connect to others, and others can't connect to me remotely. I've checked the remote settings of those with whom I've been trying to connect, and all seems right on their end. I have been able to connect without any problems in the past prior to any MSN Messenger 6.x updates. Zone Alarm Pro settings are enabled to allow MSN Messenger to connect. Please, Any help on this would be very much appreciated. Thank you. Dave. |
