A simple test. From your home PC ping IP address of your laptop. Is it successful? |

Just to recap, my laptop is Windows XP, RDC is enabled, ticked in the firewall. When I connect to the laptop via RDC, I get a black screen up, with the bar along the top with my laptop's IP address and an error message in the centre of the screen stating "The remote computer has ended the connection". |

Install MS05-19 on your laptop, reboot, try again; http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms05-019.mspx |

I have installed the above, rebooted and I am still getting the same problem/symptoms. |

Was working fine, all of the sudden it stops. Trying to connect from one computer on my home network to another with "the remote computer has ended the connection". Verified the computer is listening on standard port. Disabled firewall, spyware scanner and virus scanner. Enabled and re-enabled and tried every fix I could find in the forums. Checked every service, pinged etc. Finally I rolled back to XP service pack one and once again, my remote desktop connection is working. Nothing different, no changes other than uninstalling SP2. Just to verify the experiment I reinstalled SP2 and, as expected, I started to get the same error message. Don't know what to do here - it seems that to use the function I'm going to have to stick to SP1! Any other suggestions out there? |

This problem only started after I had upgraded to SP2. Can anyone else help with this problem? |
