I am currently having trouble starting a remote desktop session to my PC at
work.

This is what i have done so far:

System: Windows Small Business Server: Internal IP 192.168.1.254
my pc: Windows XP Pro : Internal IP 192.168.1.241

I have setup a my PC on the domain to accept incoming RDC
I have checked that windows firewall allows port 3389.
I have setup port forwarding on the router to forward 3389 to IP address of
the client PC, which is the internal IP address 192.168.1.241.

Now, we also have a webserver, windows 2003 server, running where all port
80 traffic is forwarded to our web server by the router.

So when i got to connect from home with remote desktop, i type in the IP
address of our website, or just the website itself. I should then be
forwarded to my PC on our domain correct? Am i doing something wrong here?
Have i missed something?

Instead what im getting is an error stating

"the client could not connect to the remote computer.

"Remote connections might not be enabled.......

"Please try connecting again later....... "

Please help

If your using the web based method, ie. using IIS, then you need to both set
that up on the server then call using the public IP of the server/firewall
with appropriate port forwarding, ie. both TCP Port 80 (IIS) and TCP Port
3389 (RDP). If this is a generic web server then the web based method
probably will not work. I don't use either the web based method or a SBS box
so I can't comment further.

I suggest you post to the microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs news group.

Can you call using the normal RDP client and method, ie. don't use the web
based method? You need TCP Port 3389 forwarded through any firewall to the
private static LAN IP of your work PC. You would call using the public IP of
any firewall. This page has general help for the normal, ie. non-web based,
method.
