Default Remote Connection

Is there a way to remotely connect to my Home computer from another family
members computer? That is without someone here to authorize it. I am going
on a trip and want to be able to access my computer remotely with the use of
a password. Is this possible? Thank you and help offered is greatly
appreciated.

Yes, if you have XP Pro, you can use RDC over VPN; if you have windows 2000, you can use VNC over VPN. If you don't want to setup VPN, you can use RDC or VNC.

If the home PC is running XP Pro then you can use Remote Desktop...

If the home PC is running XP Home then look at using UltraVNC with its
encryption plug-in...

In both cases you can also run Remote Desktop or UltraVNC through a VPN or
Secure Shell (SSH) tunnel for added security.

Here is how I use SSH and Remote Desktop.

Doing the same thing with UltraVNC...
