Default Accessing Drives via VPN

I am in Texas right now, and I need to access my computer in Japan. I can
successfully build a VPN connection to my computer in Japan, but I cannot
see any of the shared drives on it. How do I access my drives?

Can you ping the remote computer by IP? If yes, use net view command to check any errors. If not, post the result of ipconfig /all. This link may help,

Yes, I can ping the remote computer (the computer in Japan). Sorry, but I am not very network savvy. How do I use net view command?

I wish you post the IP so that we can have an example. assuming the server ip is 192.168.0.1, you do net view \\192.168.0.2 from the VPN client.
