Default send pop up messages to home network computers

I'm not sure where to put this question - but hopefully someone can help.

Isn't there a way to send little messages (not e-mails) to the other
computers on the same network? We used to do this where I worked - but can't
seem to do it at home.

Thanks;-)

Which operating system are you using? Win 95/98 has WinPopup. Use net send
command for Win2000/xp. Check net send/? for the syntax.

You can use a program that works on all Windows version:
WinPopup Gold 5 at www.smartison.com which include a chat option
or WinPopup Express at www.winpopup-express.com
