I was able to log in to my RDC at home for quite some time. Out of the blue
I'm no longer able to. I removed/uninstalled any firewall programs I had and it still occurs. Windows SP2 firewall is disabled. Also I am not behind a router or firewall at home. It's straight from the cable connection to the computer's Ethernet card. I was connecting straight to the IP address. Now I'm not even able to ping the IP. What could be causing this? -- |

Even if I was just able to log in remotely a few days ago? They could
actually have started to block it for no reason? -- "Shenan Stanley" <newshelper@gmail.com> wrote in message news:eHL458MCGHA.336@TK2MSFTNGP14.phx.gbl... > Nocturnal wrote: >> I was able to log in to my RDC at home for quite some time. Check that your host ip address hasn't changed. Run a tracert check to the
host machine. Check the host machine that the RD port is listening. Check your host for adware or virus. Also why can't I ping my IP address? It just times out.

Unsure why that would be "shocking". heh I'm sure you've had the experience where something you don't own/manage changes without a reason being given to you. =) -- Shenan Stanley MS-MVP -- How To Ask Questions The Smart Way http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html |

Are you running NAV 2005 worm protection or MS OneCare Live Beta. Both will
block RDP connections if not configured correctly. Its also possible your work network administrators have blocked TCP Port 3389 outbound through any firewalls... To test that theory try to connect from a friends house versus work or contact your work network administrators for help with that issue... Ping it from... external? That was my "ask about ICMP traffic" statement. ICMP traffic would constitute "ping". Ping internally? Start --> Run type in: CMD In the newly open command prompt - type: ping localhost and press ENTER. Pinging? Also - make sure your external address has not changed.
