I looked at the messages on remote assistance, but don't think any of them
are dealing with the same issue that I am having. I have two computers on the same network that I'm trying to use Remote Assistance with over the Internet connection. Once this is set up, I will be taking one of the computers to my Mom's house and will then hopefully be able to help her when she gets in trouble. If I use Windows Messenger 4.7 or MSN Messenger 7.5, I can request remote assistance. When the responding computer accepts, nothing happens. The inviting computer continues to say that it is pending a response and nothing happens on the responding computer. I also tried to do this through Help & Support using the Send and Email, but when the email arrives and the link in it is clicked, it goes to a Microsoft page saying there is no such page. I have disabled Norton Internet Security on both machines. Recently I maded changes to some of the Windows Services and am wondering if that affected anything, but I don't really think this was working before. Does anyone know which services are required for Remote Assistance? This is driving me crazy, so I would be grateful for any help. -VJ |

I never did get it to work, but am loving using LogMeIn (www.logmein.com/).
The free version is working better than remote assistance ever did.
